Akyn

The Akyn are a bipedal carnivorous species that have long, rabbit-like ears and a broad, vaguely rabbit-like face. They have clawed, 4 fingered hands, and 3-toed hooves with one raised toe on the heel. They have a thin but bushy tail, with a club-like curved bony protrusion on the underside.

The Akyn are mildly xenophobic as a whole, they have an inherent distrust of non-Akyn species. They strictly control the off-worlders allowed to sell at their space port, generally favouring other mammal-like species, and since travelling offworld is taboo, they DEFINITELY don’t allow the Xajuyn to sell their translation chips, so it’s incredibly rare for an Akyn to have one, unless they are high ranking or wealthy.

Once a month, children who have turned 10 years old go through a the Aether Ceremony. On this day, the Cipher (a spiritual leader, sort of a priest) will assign a Virtue to each child. This Virtue is meant to be something that can guide the Akyn through life.

Due to the nature of their home planet, Thrira, the Akyn build their cities and towns almost exclusivly underground. The planet is very hot and windy on the surface, to the point that it’s very hostile. Recent technology advances (in the last couple hundred years) has allowed them to build on the surface, but it’s very limited, and very expensive. Only the wealthiest can generally afford it.
